Reactor Raid...Chaos Fett in Action!!!

***NOTE: Most Pictures Converted back to Color from B&W...I think its better...you?***

Here is a quick break from the Terrain building marathon I've been on...

...today my son talked me into a quick RT-lite game...honestly, it didn't take much convincing.

I let him pick out five figures to be his bad-ass squad (he Chose Chaos Bobba Fett and some Ork boyz with big guns!) and I pulled together some Battle Systems Terrain and an Imperial force to attempt to halt Fett and his minions.

The following bat rep is a...will fill you in on the rest...In a Comic-fied retelling of the harrowing deeds of the day...

REACTOR RAID!!!

Chaos Fett...Many have heard the name....and most know the fearsome reputation...

...But few know the true face of this terror...

...without his armor...Chaos Fett is a squishy Babyfaced human youngling...

This is his "war" face! lol
...with a tentacle arm...

But with his armor on...Chaos Fett is a Cold Blooded Killer...a Chaos Operator of the highest order...

...with a tentacle arm...:)
...and today...he finally had a mission!!

The main Chaos and Ork assault on the Imperial Space Station Excon Valderz is about to commence...

...but Chaos Fett and his team of raiders would get there first.  Hidden aboard a stolen Imperial Medevac shuttle craft, Fett, and his crack team of Ork commandos would land first and clear the way...

To carry out the task at hand Fett was able to cherry pick four of Ork Warlord Narblaz's best troops...it wasn't much to chose from but he picked the biggest and most heavily armed Orks he could find.

Fett had no time to learn their Orkish names so he just called them as he saw them...(actual names by my son).

For general muscle he chose (L-R) Goggles and 'EvyArmor...

...and for Fire power he chose Dragon (hvy flamer) and StrongShoota (hvy Plasma Gun)

The Raiders would attack through the Med-bay on level 957...to Turbine Room 4...here they would destroy the turbine and a Reactor node.

Destruction of the Reactor node would take the defensive laser batteries on this side of the station off-line....

...giving the main assault wave a much higher probability of survival...

Opposition was expected to stiffen rapidly after insertion.  Initial contact was most likely to be with the Imperial Garrison Trooper...commonly referred to as Guard troopers. Capable troops, but lightly armed and armored...

...Fett also expected to encounter slightly more formidable resistance if the Fast Reaction Force Marines showed up on the scene.  These guys wore powered armor and carried bolters (and took themselves WAY too seriously...:) )... There were bound to be a few posted near such an important target...

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!

Using stolen boarding clearance codes, the commandeered Medevac shuttle was able to dock without causing concern...but when Fett and the Raiders storm out of the air-lock instead of wounded imperial soldiers...the alarm is sounded.

The Raiders charge into the medical docking bay and take cover among the supplies stored there....

With the alarm sounded, Imperial forces began to move toward the threat...  nearby Guard forces are the first to respond.  But the level's Marine FRF (Fast Reaction Force) is also put on alert...

Imperial Forces approach the raiders through the Storage compartment and from the Med-bay.

On the left flank, Goggles keeps the guardsmen in the storage room pinned down...While Fett and the other raiders leap frog forward toward the Med-bay.  Here they encounter their first foes...

And the fighting begins in earnest...

On the left flank Goggles moves up to support the assault on the Med-bay...

...emboldened by the slackened fire, the Guardsmen in the storage locker charge forward hoping to take the raiders in the rear...

But Goggles is ready for them...

...and he mows them both down as they step out the door.

...and then chucks a Frag grenade on them...as well...

...just to be sure...:)

Chaos Fett and the rest of the boyz mop up the guard in the Med-bay as well...

Clearly the FRF was going to be needed...and luckily the marines are already moving through Turbine Room 4... just as Fett and his Boyz were finishing off the Guard troopers in the Med-bay.

The first Marine bursts through a door on the left flank of the Med-bay and is met by a hail of bullets..

...and he is quickly put down.

The Raiders move up and cover the entrances to the Turbine Room...Dragon and 'EavyArmor charge up the stairs and approach the gantry door...

Dragon pokes his head through the Door...

...and is hit with a aimed burst of heavy bolter fire from the marine on the other side.... Dragon disappears in a ball of fire...

...the fire ball engulfs 'EavyArmor as well...

Fett's team is reduced by 50%...But the remaining Raiders press on to their target...

Turbine Room 4

Fett's team is immediately hit by fire from all sides...

...But the heaviest fire of is coming from the elevated security bunker...

Miraculously the Raiders serpentine through the hail of fire and emerge unscathed!  Strong Shooter casually tosses a melta-bomb through the firing slit of the bunker...and the fire slackens...

While his Boyz mop the remaining members of the FRF....

Fett steps to the Reactor and places a thermal detonator above the fuel cell...

As the remains of the Raiders retreat toward the Medevac shuttle...and their ride home...

...Fett casually stops... turns... and triggers the detonator with a direct hit from his rocket launcher...

While Fett and his boyz nonchalantly stroll into the Med-bay....Turbine Room 4 is engulfed in FLAME...

Let the Gloating Begin!!!!

We really had a good time...

Cheers,

Blue

  6. Those pictures turned out so well. Although they muted some of the wonderful colours in your miniatures, so sense of texture and drama more than made up for it.
